Today is Small Business Saturday

Considering that today is Small Business Saturday here is something to consider....

It is apparent that the Knoxville company Coal Creek Armory and its ultra-rich millionaire owner and backer have decided to dedicate their great wealth to running Frontier out of business.... 

This happens.  

But we must ask why don't they use some of their $Millions to pay off the $271,079.78 in tax liens filed against them this past summer? (Lien of July 8, number 0001453 for $238,834.96 and Lien of July 8, number 0001454 for $32,244.82. See Knoxville News Sentinel  just read down the list). 

Instead of spending money to hurt our business here in Roane County, why don't they pay their taxes like the rest of us honest Americans. 

But then that's not how it works in American anymore is it?

Today the rich grow richer off the sweat and hard work of honest tax paying Americans!

Now days rich corporations like CCA don't pay taxes. They hire fancy tax lawyers and high priced tax accountants to beat the system while little Mom and Pop businesses along with all the working Joes and Janes of American foot the tax bills for them.

Folks today is Small Business Saturday.  Please show your support for small businesses that are not backed by millionaires. Support small businesses who just like you actually pay their fair share in taxes.

Sunday Class Not Full But A Success

With only 15 students our Sunday Handgun Permit class was not full, but everyone enjoyed their Free lunch and the winner of the Defensive Pistol course was thrilled!

Other than the entertainment (jokes, tall tales, and "war stories") performed by the instructor and the quality of the facilities, Tennessee handgun carry permit classes should be identical. 

In fact State Law says all handgun carry permit classes must be the same. They must be the same length (eight hours) cover the same material, show the same videos, use the same tests, and shoot the same qualifying course.

So why are some instructors charging so much money for their classes?  

Greed, plan and simple -- greed. There is no other reason. 

That said there are ways to find the right class at the right price.  Here are a few things to look for when selecting a training academy to take your class:

Once our eyes are open, some things just don't seem so great anymore.  That held true for the great and powerful Wizard of Oz and it holds true for old, worn out shooting ranges.

What we do offer is a team of professional firearms instructors with over 100 years combined firearms training experience (law enforcement, military and civilian).

What we do offer are classes focusing on the real world.

We refuse to delude folks into thinking they can go from novice to expert in a few lessons.

We don't waste students' time teaching them as if their going to be part of some elite law enforcement and military unit.

We understand how silly it is to pretend civilian carry for self defense is the same as police or military work.

Our students don't come to us to run around in black ninja suits. They just want down to earth firearms training that they can use every day.

So that's what we give them.

And that's why in a single week we train more shooters that other outfits see in a month!

And we do it on a range that is safe and doesn't put students at risk of going home with a dangerous dose of lead poisoning.

Finally and perhaps best of all, we don't charge insanely high prices for our training because we believe everyone should be able to afford great training - not just the privileged few.

Thirty years ago ranges with steel plate backstops and targets that dangled on strings may have been the "cat's meow", but today they're obsolete relics of a time when safety standards were lax and training methods primitive....

Lead poisoning is indeed a serious hazard when shooting in obsolete indoor ranges built over a quarter of a century ago.  In these old facilities fired rounds smash into steel plates releasing clouds of deadly air borne lead!*

Moreover the closer the firing line is to the steel backstop the greater the risk that shooter's are being subjected to toxic levels of air borne lead (shooting on a 50ft range with a steel backstop is more dangerous than shooting on a 75ft range with a steel backstop - but both are dangerous).

Fortunately, there is an alternative.

Because we built our range to modern safety standards, rounds fired in either of Frontier Firearms' ranges do not smash into steel plates. Instead each round fired is gently "caught" in a three foot thick blanket of granulated rubber -- most rounds are recovered intact, undamaged.

Thus, you can shoot at Frontier Firearms without fear of being slowly poisoned and perhaps permanently incapacitated by air borne lead resulting from bullets blasting into steel plates. 

Additionally at Frontier one doesn't have to worry about injury from bullets bouncing off steel plates back toward the firing line.  We've all seen bullets bounce back and strike the shooter after firing into a steel backstop, but not at Frontier where we can shoot point-blank into our back stop!

* Exposure to lead poisoning in indoor firing ranges comes primarily from inhaling lead dust created when the bullet strikes the steel backstop behind the target.

Others Brag, We Perform!

Yesterday, we passed the OP (as we do several times daily).  On this occasion, we observed two phenomena. 

First, on our outbound trip we saw a car (assumed to be a potential customer) in the four car parking lot.

Second, upon our return we saw an different vehicle!

This was the first time in two months that we had personally witnessed ANY vehicles other than the clerk's vehicle at OP and to spot two (albeit at different times) on the same day - simply remarkable.

What happened next though was not unusual; it's been happening for years - just more so recently (the travel time is less).  Their potential customer pulled into Frontier and bought the product they could not buy down the road.  

Indeed, the vehicle we had seen earlier at OP, pulled in at Frontier and we promptly served up the 223 55gr SD ammo that the customer said OP "wouldn't".

We are hoping their young clerk continues to boast of OP's "large" and fantastical (i.e. invisible) inventory;  their smokey, cramped, toxic range; and their CCA style customer service.

The more he brags, the higher our sales!
